Holga got taken apart and put back together again.

Once upon a time, there lived a pretty red holga camera. That got taken apart because it was sick. It got put back together again like humpty dumpty did. His genius master made him into an invincible robot and programmed him to say, " I'll be back Bi*tches".

**Prints are available in custom colors as well. Email for prices.** Thanks for viewing!!

50 reasons to (not) date a graphic designer

With thanks to A Bourbon for Silvia. The ones in black speak of me alone but the whole list is brilliant and oh so true xD It's embarassing. Enjoy!

1. They are very weird people.
2. There are billions of them in the world, like colors on the screen of your computer.
3. They will analyse conversations in layers.
4. You will spend the day assembling furniture from IKEA.
5. They drink and eat all kinds of weird shit just because they like the packaging.
6. They hate each other.
7. You’ll come out the last out of the movies because you have to see the full list of credits.
8. They cant change a light bulb or without making a sketch.
9. They fuck up all the tables with their cutters.
10. They rather study the paisley pattern on your outfit than listen to what you have to say.
11. They will fill your house with magazines and whatever is out there that has drawings.
12. You never know if it is really an original or a copy.
13. They make collages with your photos.
14. They do not know how to add and subtract, they just understand letters.
15. They idolize people who nobody knows and speak of them as if they were his colleagues.
16. They take pictures almost daily and all are cut in weird shapes.
17. They ask your opinion about everything but  they do whatever they want.
18. Everything is left justified, right or center unless they arrive late.
19. They hate Comic Sans with the same passion they love Helvetica.
20. They use iPhone for everything, because everyone has one. (I'd rather a blackberry)
21. You can not decorate the house without consulting them.
22. They steal street signs.
23. Always have their hands painted with something.
24. They buy dolls unfinished for them to paint. (sneakers in my case)
25. Everything becomes something other than what it really is: cards as tickets, cards as …
26. When arguing, you will be nicknamed like the OSX spinning wheel (not affectionately)
27. Do not know how to dress without consulting the Pantone book. (color inspiration is important)
28. They hate Excel.
29. They read comics.
30. They want to save the world only with a poster.
31. You will spend the day brainstorming.
32. On vacation they will take you to countries that you do not know exist and have no beach.
33. Museums are their second home.
34. They know more positions than the Kamasutra.
35. They can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design.
36. They listen to music you have never heard of.
37. They can´t cook a normal dish, they always have to experiment with new ingredients.
38. They read rare books: stories of children, Semiotics …
39. When you are going to tell you something, everyone has read it in their facebook and twitter.
40. They have own iPods before you knew they existed.
41. The orgasm they remember is when they heard that Adobe was acquiring Macromedia.
42. They have their own shops just for them and there are the most expensive in the city.
43. They want to spend all the money in the Apple Store.
44. You will never understand their gifts.
45. They see ordinary objects and laugh.
46. You wake up in the middle of the night hearing them screaming “When is the deadline?”
47. They see CMYK and RGB like Neo sees the Matrix.
48. They dream of the day nobody will make a single change to their designs.
49. They rather pay for a font than for a special birthday gift.
50. They are always sleepy because they work 24/7.

Lichtheid

These are pictures of a paper sculpture I made. The assignment was to visualize a word in 3D form. The choice of paper as material made the assignment at the first glance, hard because paper is such a fine material. But with such a neutral material as paper, it becomes such a malleable communicative middle.

The production of the sculpture was hours of bent over neck breaking precision work and replication after replication for the right curves and folds. I'm proud to show off the final pictures of the sculpture representing 'Lichtheid' (lightness).

The concept behind the sculpture is based on the movement of air.

Cheers all!

For japan with love

forjapanwithlove_blog.jpg

Individually there isn't much we can do and our efforts seem in vane but together we could make a difference and have an impact. It's simple what you can do:

1.  This coming Friday, March 18th, no posts at all on your blog.
2.  Please post a blog post about what you will be doing this Friday, tomorrow in hope to spread the word about this action.
3. Tweet and Re-Tweet/blog/sms the shiznit out of the link to http://www.forjapanwithlove.com please.
4. Encourage your readers to contribute to donate shelter to Japan.
Whatever anyone can contribute will be appreciated. Every little bit helps.

Lying on your back

This is a series of photographs I took around Hasselt area. Hopped on a bike and managed to snap a couple of these for a photography assignment called 'lying on your back'. Seeing everything from underneath allows you notice everything and capture images that communicate on a whole new level.

There's always something beautiful outside

They say it's not the outside but the inside that counts :p And I couldn't agree any less

These are a couple of photos that I've taken with a Canon 500D for an assignment. Happy viewing!

Black Beauty

Hello all!

This one portrait to begin with is a beautiful shot of an African American woman, which I then reworked with a few graphic elements to give you what you see now. I like how the different shades of colors mix to form a unique piece of artwork.

You can brand anything

I'm taking a small "creative break" because I can't seem to collect enough juices to come up with something fresh right now. So I spent some time yesterday reading on the net about everything from skincare to fashion. You know how the creative bug creeps up on you when you're not exactly doing anything design related. Then I came across this. (check above) What first intrigued me was the fact that this woman had on the same black translucent shirt I've had my eyes on at the store and underneath ( because I'm such a sucker for details), the exact same black body suit with weave pattern paneling that I had my eyes on from Asos.com. Nevermind that, she was leaning on this lamp post. See anything? A CHANEL lamp post. Okaaay...maybe Chanel is taking over the world but quite frankly, I realized, " You can brand anything!" And how successful your branding is, is what determines how successful your business will be. You're selling people an idea. You plant a seed of an idea and it takes over them like a virus. And how "infected" they are, all depends on the strength in that little seed you created. Quite simple no? But so fascinating. Well, something else to ponder about.

ps: I watched inception 2 days ago. It was brilliant.

Nike 6.0 Mogan Mid artwork 2

Hello all

This is the second version I've done for another customized sneaker. You'll notice this one's a little darker and that you can now see "all" the paint splashes. I like the little touch of sand colored paint on the sole...that keeps it a bit quirky; A bit me.

Enjoy!

My Nike 6.0s...customized by myriadmedia for Missotten&Frances

Hello all

I just finished this yesterday and it should've only taken me 20-30 minutes max. to get this done but I was being too much of a perfectionist (i took half a day instead). I know....I can hear the whole design crowd going, "Booo~ What the hell?!" Anyway, this artwork was created for my customized pair of Nike 6.0 Mogan Mids. I like the way the paint looks like its splattered and poured, as if trying to say creating this shoe was like fine art: A whole harmonious mix of color. I'm in love with this model and a couple others....I'm such a sneaker junkie.

People collect Barbie dolls and comic figurines. Well I collect sneakers =X I'm getting married in my very own customized white sneakers. Booyah.

Enjoy!

ps: The logo in the bottom right corner is the a sneak preview of Missotten&Frances' new logo. I think it kick's ass.

EXAMS! They were over with slower than they arrived

hello all,
I have to apologize for disappearing and not posting..I've not died yet; I was out of my mind busy with exams! I had my entry exam for graphic design on tuesday and with good news too (i'm so happy). But here, the above drawing was a pictorial presentation of who i am, how i am without being literal. Take note of the style used and color placement ;)

This one here was the 2nd assignment I had to prepare for the entry exam too and it's my interpretation of a tree. My idea of a tree ( again not in the literal sense) after doing a little literature research. The dutch phrase translates to " absorbed by wrath?" My interpretation of the idea of a tree from a poem by William Blake:

A Poison Tree by William Blake

I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I watered it in fears
Night and morning with my tears,
And I sunned it with smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Til it bore an apple bright,
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.

And into my garden stole
When the night had veiled the pole;
In the morning, glad, I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

The Making Of A Gentleman

1. On giving up the seat. Gentleman give up their seat to the elder and young children... not to the good looking lady, just because she's good looking (otherwise, you might as well never sit. Giving up the seat every time and for everyone doesn't make you a gentleman, it just makes you the guy with sore feet.)

2. On looking at women. A real gentleman doesn't look back after she passes. Look and learn to work your peripheral... but once she's out of your peripheral, let thoughts of her be out your mind.

3. On gossip. End it where it begins... if someone starts going down that path, interrupt and ask if what they are going to say will benefit either themselves, the person they are talking about, or yourself... if they say no, ask them what's the point.

4. On the quality of life. Gentlemen do not impose themselves on others, this means their music remains moderate, their boxers stay hidden, their hygiene unoffensive, and language appropriate

5. On greeting women. Now this is a tough one that I've been trying to master myself. Gentlemen should not be the first to approach a woman or even greet them. A woman should say hello first then he proceeds. On approaching a woman, the chap should only do so if she gives him an opening (i.e. a smile, eye contact).

6. On the shoes. Shoes must always be polished. Make sure those slanted heels are replaced and taps are added to them. Nothing kills a look more than a sharp dressed man with dirty or worn shoes.

7. On living life. A gentleman has an appreciation for life, he lives it fully understanding that everyday he has the opportunity to improve the world around him. He lives life with passion without caring to be a role model, but living consciously by example.

8. On penmanship. Learn to write and I don't mean just print.

9. On too much. Never be excessive - it's vulgar.

10. Understand elegance. Elegance is an attitude, It's about how you live both in the public eye and in the privacy of your home. Money doesn't buy elegance, it can only purchase items.

11. On making a person smile. This is one of the hidden gems of a gentleman. this is where the gent need not say a word, but simply senses the right time and acts on it without any motives other than simply nurturing or creating a smile. When that lady walks by and looks - smile and simply acknowledge her glance without a word or skipping a step... watch her light up. Even that chap you see who you know took time to present himself to the world...Acknowledge it with a simple nod of the head without skipping a beat. The 'little' things are never little.

12. On SMS. For starters, let's understand one thing - SMS stands for short message service. So, no conversations via text messages! Conversations should be had in person, CAPS somehow just don't express emotions as they should be expressed.
