1. They are very weird people.
2. There are billions of them in the world, like colors on the screen of your computer.
3. They will analyse conversations in layers.
4. You will spend the day assembling furniture from IKEA.
5. They drink and eat all kinds of weird shit just because they like the packaging.
6. They hate each other.
7. You’ll come out the last out of the movies because you have to see the full list of credits.
8. They cant change a light bulb or without making a sketch.
9. They fuck up all the tables with their cutters.
10. They rather study the paisley pattern on your outfit than listen to what you have to say.
11. They will fill your house with magazines and whatever is out there that has drawings.
12. You never know if it is really an original or a copy.
13. They make collages with your photos.
14. They do not know how to add and subtract, they just understand letters.
15. They idolize people who nobody knows and speak of them as if they were his colleagues.
16. They take pictures almost daily and all are cut in weird shapes.
17. They ask your opinion about everything but  they do whatever they want.
18. Everything is left justified, right or center unless they arrive late.
19. They hate Comic Sans with the same passion they love Helvetica.
20. They use iPhone for everything, because everyone has one. (I'd rather a blackberry)
21. You can not decorate the house without consulting them.
22. They steal street signs.
23. Always have their hands painted with something.
24. They buy dolls unfinished for them to paint. (sneakers in my case)
25. Everything becomes something other than what it really is: cards as tickets, cards as …
26. When arguing, you will be nicknamed like the OSX spinning wheel (not affectionately)
27. Do not know how to dress without consulting the Pantone book. (color inspiration is important)
28. They hate Excel.
29. They read comics.
30. They want to save the world only with a poster.
31. You will spend the day brainstorming.
32. On vacation they will take you to countries that you do not know exist and have no beach.

They're off to NY!

They're finally up! XD The top most canvas is a lotus. This piece kinda pokes fun at materialism. For those who don't know ( which I realize could be quite a few people LOL) what meanings the Lotus flower carries, it symbolizes coming out of a bad patch of anything in general & it also to some, holds the meaning of reaching a level of awareness...moving away from a material life & on to something better( put in my own words lol). Anyhow, google it? :P So this piece for me is about a wanting to be free of a material world. In my opinion, life's just easier that way. Unfortunately though...it'll take a good while before mankind lets go of money & selfish wants...

Moving on...the canvas below that is called my " Blue peony". It's my personal favourite & I had the most fun doing the detailed work. This is my interpretation of the flower in my mind but visualized on paper, then canvas. The black background's got tinges of like a midnight blue undertone. There's no complicated reasoning to this flower. It's straight forward...I like the peony flower. I think it's beautiful..an asian beauty with my spin on it :)

These illustrations are up for exhibiting in NY at the moment for the end of the month. But they're also on sale. a lookback, a step forward & a warm welcome to...

Another year's about to pass in a few hours...I am looking forward to the new year hoping it'll bring me something better after what damage this year's done. But as the hours count down & 2009 draws near, I'm a lil scared. Scared of what's to come, the unknown.

The past few days I've been playing with thoughts of how next year could be...how I'm going to plan it. But the thing is, as much as you plan for something, almost always somewhere something will go wrong. Something goes off track. So i sit here watching the sunrise having yogurt with frozen blueberries and penning my thoughts and contemplating about the new year...

You know the things you want ( which everyone appropriately names as their list of resolutions, I'm renaming it my "want list") that you list down...well I've got a few things that I want for me, my life this new year( after much "cleaning bug ridding" with my trusty " Procras-ticide" spray...

-> I want to be happy.

-> I want a new life.

-> I want to get all the things I've listed on my " to get soon list" lol ( all the darn lists. How's that different from the want list? well, the "to get soon list" is doable pretty easily.)

-> I want to be able to figure how to get started with accessing my messenger through my phone!

-> I want to be within 1m of that special someone. 

-> I want to be somewhere with 4 seasons.

-> I want out of SG.

-> I want that coveted advertising job darn it! (excuse me)

-> this is not a doable want but who cares: I want the recession to disappear.

Look, I could go on forever & ever til death of my fingers do I part... But, I need change yet I crave familiarity. Oh the irony. I'm glad 2008 came & went cuz it brought me someone I hold close to my heart, someone I could be plain me with, someone who feels what I feel, someone who knows me better than I do myself. With that one, I know i'll be safe & things will be okay. 2008 too brought me more independence, self-assurance , discovery & enlightenments? lol. 

As for 2009...I really hope it's a much better year for me all around as well as for all those I keep in heart & mind. What better way to kick off 2009 than for me to be introducing "MyriadMedia" or plain " myriad" for short. Myriad meet world, world meet Myriad. Myriad is my work identity & under Myriad is "C.MY.S" ( pronounced as such :P but stands for collectmyshoes) & "C.MY.T" (collectmytee).

It's not the GSS, it's the JSS ( jessica's shoe sale) lol...

If you've read the previous post, you'd know I was away for a couple of months. I brought with me a blank pair of shoes to design while on vacation, hoping I'd be inspired by something. 2 months passed & still not a single stroke of paint on the shoe. Not till a couple of days before I was scheduled to return home -_-

For those who've been following my blog, remember the entry I did that was on a sketch of I did of the phrase " L'Arte Non e Mai finita solo Abbandonata" meaning "art is never finished, only abandoned". Based on that sketch, I transferred the phrase to wrap around the entire shoe. I figured if people would pay to have a tattoo of a name, phrase or whole paragraph of words on their limbs...why not on a shoe? LOL (if that makes any sense) So anyway, here's pics of the shoe at its various stages & 1 of a willing model XD Enjoy!

it's all bone...

I know it's been a while since my last post but here's the newest edition to the LONG LIST of designs *COUGH* lol. Well, continued from a previous post... this guy actually asked for a skull head & bat wings. It was a little bit of a challenge with this one because of the higher details involved & getting the proportion of the skull right. The design was prepped in pencil & marked out on the shoe itself before i filled in the background colors & lastly the details.
Above is the completed shoe viewed from the top. A gray background would've worked as well.
The shoe viewed from the side. As requested, I kept the shoe filled up for the most part. I covered the back with the guy's name colored a black fading into a red.

fluidity 2: water & lines

Again, the design was left up to me. I based this design on the previous shoe ( in the previous post) but made lil changes to this one so it's unique. I hope you like it! So the guy wanted something designed in black n white..cool i said, that'll be easy & i did it all the patterns in black first..something was missing. It looked dull not to mention flat. So i dyed the back portion of the shoe gray so the white in the design really popped..The gray really gave it a lil more depth. The tinges of blue & yellow were to accentuate the fluid lines. Think of it as waves on a stormy night kinda.

Talk about a wearable piece of art. This here people is a pair i did recently for someone. A head turner? For sure. Get one if you know you're worth it.

On my "day-off", I was limping around the mall near my place & you know...the funny thing is you can never turn your mind off. I don't know if that's ever even possible, seriously. ( ummm, Whoever reads this...if you do know the secret to switching off completely. Drop me a note.)

Alright so, I entered this store...lo & behold! I find another model of shoe ( the plain canvas kind). PURRRFECT. Just as a tee is a plain canvas, these shoes are too... Anything could be a canvas to explore ideas right? I HAD to have one to "test run". The larger blank space available on this new style was the best. I was suddenly "inspired" 8-) Riighht.. CHECK this out:

<------------Over on the left was completely "freestyled". Meaning to say I didn't really "plan" out what I wanted to draw..I just "felt" the design & let it come naturally. I knew I wanted something more "geometric" & something just alil "retro" looking. Like all the other shoes, they're waterproof, fade proof :) Colors used : black, purple , silver & shimmery blue.
