scene 1: In bed, turned on my huge lantern overhead, & I'm wearing my pair of sunglasses while typing this out...I was reading this article about Kohl, the 3347 year old beauty secret. We've all seen the bust of Nefertiti, the ancient Egyptian queen who rocked Kohl eyeliner back around 1340 B.C. In the U.S., the definition of Kohl has deviated from its Middle Eastern origins and evolved into a fairly loose term for dark eye makeup (Lancome's publicist says they use the word "Kohl" to describe their liners' "smudgeability".) Did you know...the Kohl ancient Egyptians applied on a daily basis was a mixture of gum & soot ? :O
Then I read on further...Nomads have utilitarian uses for the Kohl they still make themselves: one of the purposes for wearing it is to cut the glare of the sun off the sand, sort of like how American football players wear black paint under their eyes. Then a voice said, "Why do people wear sunglasses?" Good question.
People wear sunglasses because...:1. Paris & Nicole look "awesome darHling"
2. they're vain
3. they are hiding conjunctivitis
4. they're not feeling the "eye patch" ala captain hook
5. they've got into a fight or been brusied by an abusive "ex" & are trying to hide the black eye
6. they're perverts & don't want people to know they're actually staring you up
7. they're druggies hiding their dilated/contracted pupils or bloodshot eyes
8. admit it, those sunglasses with the "Chanel" logo are a status symbol
9. they're protecting their eyes from UV rays that cause cataracts
10. so they could see themselves looking more tanned (mmm hmmm all stemmed from hollywood baby)
